Marietta, Oklahoma A Lake Texoma Recreational Town
Founded in 1887 as a Santa Fe Railroad station, the City of Marietta is the County
Seat of Love County and has a population of over 2,526. Marietta is part
of the Ardmore Metro Area and the city was named after Marietta, PA.  Marietta is located on State Highway 32 at the junction of US Route 77 and is just east of Interstate 35. The city is about the half way point between Oklahoma City, OK and Dallas, Texas. Marietta has some historic buildings to offer the visitor. The centerpiece is the Love County Courthouse build about 1910. It was the first courthouse built after statehood and topped with a clock dome. The historic Santa Fe depot built in 1913 is another place to see. Marietta's history was also involved with the Arbuckle Cattle Trail that crossed the Red River from Texas and connected with the Chisholm Trail to the north. Marietta has two popular lake recreational areas; Lake Murray and Lake Texoma: 
 Lake Murray with 67 miles of shore line is located 10 miles northeast of the City. 5,728 acres of the lake is spring fed, and it is one of the clearest lakes in Oklahoma. The fishing is excellent and is known for great smallmouth bass fishing. It is also a great lake for scuba diving, water skiing, wake boarding, jet skiing, and more! 
Lake Texoma which is the 10th largest lake in the U.S. with a 1000 miles of shore line is located 20 miles east of the City. The lake has marinas, boat launches and boat rentals for the visiting visitors. The lake attracts over 6 million visitors a year.
